Indian Biryani Spices

Following my simple biryani spices, I decided to post the other ingredients for Indian biryani, and truly the give different and rich taste for the chicken and even the rice when cooked separately. You can try this recipe to spice up chicken, turkey, duck or even vegetable rice dishes.

Indian Biryani Spices


– ½ tsp of ground black pepper.
– 1 tsp of ground cumin.
– ½ tsp of ground cardamom.
– 1 tsp of ground turmeric.
– ¾ tsp of ground cilantro.
– 1 tsp of ground ginger.
– ½ tsp of ground clove.
– 2 tsp of garlic powder.
– 2 star anise “ground”.
– ¼ tsp of ground anise seeds.
– 2 tsp of ground cinnamon.
– 1 tsp of chili powder “if desired”.

Mix the ground ingredients and grind again, if needed. Sprinkle on the fried chicken or rice while preparing the biryani and other dishes for a delicious taste, or keep in glass jar for later use.
